The place to go to pout about the universe in a rational way. No intelligence required.
...shoudn't nature intervene?

Spring Break 2009! Time for explosive fun in the Florida sun, alchoholic daydreams, stupid promiscuity, and pointless debauchery. Or if you are a nerd like me, time for staying on campus with your girlfriend and doing pretty much nothing. For the past half-week, I have been staying up inexcusably late, just wasting time. Last night specifically, I watched the seven final episodes of Firefly, the failed space Western that later returned in the form of a kick butt movie called Serentity.

I loved it. It turns out that the successful shows just appeal to dumb people more. Other examples of kick butt culture that were economic failures in an in anti-intellectual all-American league include GATTACA, Shawshank Redemption, the original Star Trek, and pretty much anything else with a plot. Let this be a lesson to you: when staying on campus during spring break because you are a nerd, read critic reviews in order to waste your time optimally. That being said, I feel guilty today.

Though I spent more than seven hours last night in pure euphoria, I started at midnight, afterwards sleeping for about ten hours. I woke up at 4:00 today, and I feel mighty lazy. But my girlfriend rooted every attempt I made at my organic chemistry textbook. She seems intent on stopping all my scrooge-like urges.

Well, I still have half my spring break to accomplish something. I am thinking that eventually, nature has to stop this unholy cycle. It's just not right.

My wife and I absolutely loved 'Firefly'.  We felt like we were part of some elite group, though, whenever we mentioned it because most people hadn't heard of it.  I've watched the whole series numerous times now and have also collected the two graphic novels released so far to accompany both the series and the movie (these have been written by Joss Whedon as well).  Apparently he plans to explain who or what the 'blue hands' are.  Looking forward to that, let me tell you.

I could think of very little better ways to waste my time than this.  Good for you.  Isn't this what a break is supposed to be all about?
